Instead of Saving Money, Make More Money

Live the life you deserve

During the current cost of living crisis, many people are looking for ways to save money. Hell, I’ve even written about it myself. But it’s not the best solution to the problem.

The problem

Inflation is rising fast, and wages aren’t keeping up, so our money doesn’t go as far as it used to.

The result

Most people end up cutting back on their spending. They have the same amount of money coming in, but everything costs more. As a result, some spending needs to be cut.

I’ve been reading about the situation in the UK. I’m sure it’s the same in most countries. One guy that owns a café says he sleeps on the floor there isn’t of driving home. He can’t afford the cost of petrol. He also says that some days he doesn’t have any customers at all. They’re also cutting back on their spending.

There are hundreds of stories just like this. Maybe you also have a similar story.

The solution

The solution isn’t to keep cutting back. If you do that for long enough you won’t have a life at all. The solution is to make more money. That way you can enjoy your current lifestyle.

There are so many ways to make money online these days that it’s mind-boggling why more don’t take advantage of it.

We all have useful skills and experience that others could benefit from. Why not sell those skills?

How about creating eBooks on a topic that you’re familiar with. Sell a few of those a month and it may cover the cost of inflation. That way, you don’t need to cut back on your spending. You can sell on Gumroad or Amazon Kindle.

If you’re good at crafting, why not make something that you can sell on a website like Etsy.

If you’re good at design, you can sell products on one of the many print-on-demand websites.

Maybe you can build websites for local businesses. Maybe you can run their social media campaigns.

Figure out what you can offer. There are billions of dollars being spent online. Try to grab a small percentage of it for yourself.

I would hate to give up my daily café visits, eating out, traveling, and all the other things that make my life what it is. There’s no way I’m going to be doing that willingly. I’ll just work harder to make more money.

For me, that’s writing on here, launching a few eBooks, and maybe launching a teachable course later this year. These side hustles will more than make up for any rising costs caused by inflation.

Next year I have some even bigger plans, but I’ll save those for a later day.

No cost-of-living crisis or recession is going to stand in my way. Quite the opposite. I use them to spur me on to bigger and great things.

How are you planning to earn some extra cash to see you through these tough times?
