I Made $420 For 30 Minutes Of Work

Before I started writing here I never thought I’d be able to earn so much for so little work. I assumed that my best stories might earn $10–20 at most. Oh boy, was I mistaken.
I joined Medium on 30 October last year. The story that made $420 was published on 4 November, so is from my first week on the platform.
The story is only 636 words long and took me around 30 minutes to write. I wasn’t expecting much from it, but it turned out to be my most popular story so far.
The great thing about this story is that it’s still making small amounts of money every day. There hasn’t been a day when it made $0.
That means it could still get to $500 or even $1,000 eventually.
I’m still amazed that so little work can earn so much.
Why has it earned so much?
I think the reason it’s earned so much is that it’s about writing a book. This platform has tens of thousands of writers and most are probably interested in publishing a book.
That means that the story has a huge potential audience.
I also like the headline, as it leaves the reader wanting to know exactly how much money I made. That will give them some idea of how much they could make.
So far, the story has received 9.3K views. 8.5K of this were internal views, which is great. The reading time is over 120 hours.

All I need to do now is write a few more like this. Easier said than done.
