I considered starting a print-on-demand side hustle a while back but the effort didn’t justify the reward for me. You usually have to upload thousands of designs to make a decent income, and that’s just not something I want to do.

Yesterday, I came across a side hustle income report from Jared Davidson. It made for some interesting reading. I’ll link to the post at the end of this article.

Jared has several side hustles but makes the most money from his t-shirt designs. I was amazed to read that as of the end of March he had uploaded 17,894 t-shirt designs to TeePublic.

In March, he uploaded 600–700 new designs. That’s an average of 20 designs every day. He’s certainly putting in the work.

In his report, he mentions that he also uploads designs to Redbubble, Spreadshirt, CafePress and Zazzle.

For March he earned $430.75 from TeePublic. He made $67.98 from CafePress and $61 from Zazzle. That’s a total of $559.73.

The report also included a screenshot of the sales and payments from his TeePublic account. It shows that he’s sold 5,216 items that brought him an income of $8,895.

That’s only around $1.70 per item, which seems crazy low to me.

But now that the designs have been uploaded he can sit back and continue to earn passive income. He’s obviously put a ton of work in upfront. That is one way that you can earn passive income for months or years to come.
