My Medium Earnings Jumped to $100 in a Day
It’s hard to believe

At the beginning of the year, I had a goal of earning $3,000 a month from Medium. On 11 April, I thought I was definitely going to hit that target. Why? Because that was the first time ever that I earned over $100 a day here. If I earned that every day I’d make $3,000 a month.
If only it was so easy. Making $100 in a day is difficult. Making that every day is near impossible for probably over 99% of writers.
But here’s the thing. Now that I’ve earned that around in a day, I know it’s at least possible. In fact, I’ve earned over $100 a day on 2 occasions.

As you can see above, one story earned me $38.02 on that day. The story got 1.2K views.
What I’ve noticed is that if you get a story that goes viral, it drags other stories up with it. You could be earned $30 a day. Then a viral story earns $40, but all the others earn $60. Viral stories have a great effect on your other stories.
The viral story was this one:
This One Thing Got Rid Of 85% Of The Stress In My Life
The second time I had a $100 day was earlier this month. I had a great start to June, but the ending is awful.

This story got twice as many views as the previous one, at 2.4K. That means twice the earnings, right? Wrong. It made $40.15.
100% more views meant 5% higher earnings.
But it was enough to drag other stories up with it. I ended up with over $100.
This story was:
9 Things That Will Disappear From Our Lives Within 20 Years
The two days mentioned above are the only two days that my views hit 4,000. So I guess 4,000 views for me means $100. To make $3,000 a month I’d need 120,000 views. That seems like a tall order. But I love a challenge.
In contrast, the last week or so I’ve hovered around the $20–$25 a day mark.
So, there you have it. I’m hoping I can write more stories than can get 1,000+ views.
I hope these earnings can inspire you to keep writing and keep dreaming.
