By The End Of This Year, I'll Be Earning Over $3,000 A Month On Medium
Watch me succeed
This is the year that I plan to take my writing to the next level. I have 12 months to get to $3,000 a month in earnings on this platform. I do not doubt that I will make it.
I have run countless side hustles over the last 15 years or so. Some have done spectacularly well, such as my ecommerce business. Some have been so so. Some have been complete and utter failures.
What I found was that how well they did in the first couple of months is almost always a great indicator of how well they will end up doing. The 5 best side hustles all made money in the first month or two. They then went on to earn much more.
I’ve never considered myself a writer. This is mainly due to my English teacher not having much faith in me. I even wrote 8 Kindle books but still thought of myself as more of a side hustler than a writer.
But that has changed dramatically in the last couple of months. I joined Medium on 30 October and got accepted into the Medium Partner Program on 12 November. I wasn’t expecting to earn much as I had read that only a small minority earned over $100 a month.
With my English teacher calling my written English “average at best” it didn’t seem like I’d be in that small minority that earns $100+.
But in November I earned $92.88. Considering that was for just 19 days it meant I was already in that small minority. I started to believe in myself.
Fast forward to December and I was blown away to earn $468.28. So far in January, I’m on target to earn a similar amount. I guess I can’t expect every month to have an increase in earnings. There are bound to be down months as well.
Only one of my past side hustles has had such a great start and then went on to make me over $0.5 million. I’m certainly not expecting that from Medium but $3,000 a month is more than doable. I’m up for the challenge.
Of course, I may fail spectacularly and end up with lots of egg on my face. After all, I’ve set myself a very bold target. If I didn’t believe that I could achieve it, I wouldn’t bother even trying. It was Henry Ford that said:
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t — you’re right.”
So what would be the point of trying if I thought I would fail. My heart just wouldn’t be in it.
I have a cunning plan to succeed. Stay tuned to see it unfold.
$3,000 is the perfect amount to ensure that my wife and I can travel in more comfort than we usually do. It will be like the icing on the cake. My joy of travel is what will keep me motivated.
