These days it seems like everyone needs a side hustle either to survive or to bring in a little extra cash for a few treats. What’s more, numerous posts on the internet make it sounds very easy.

Yes, I’m sure you have. But it all sounds a little too easy, doesn’t it?
We have a go at one of these side hustles and put in the minimum amount of work, just like the post said. We then feel like a failure when we earn exactly zero.
Never mind, we move on to the next post and try the next get-rich-quick idea.
We fail again.
And again.
And again.
We then give up. There must be something seriously wrong with us. Others are making money, so why aren’t we?
Well, here is the brutal truth. Side hustles take some serious work, especially in the early stages. If we know and accept that, we have more chance of succeeding. If we know it involves hard work we’re less likely to give up so easily.
We all need a reality check.
Side hustles can earn us very good money and can even earn us more than our day jobs. But we have to start them with realistic expectations.
I’ve earned over $1,000 here so far, but it didn’t happen in weeks. This is article 131. That means I’ve earned less than $10 per article. It’s not great pay. But I’m willing to put in the work because I know the rewards usually come later rather than sooner. I aim to be earning $3,000 a month from my writing by the end of the year. I know it’s not going to happen overnight. I know that. I accept that.
Sometimes writing feels easy. Sometimes it feels very tough, especially when you see your daily views falling. But you have to work through the tough times. Focus on the end result.
It’s the same with all side hustles. Some are easier than others, but you still have to put in the work and be patient. Don’t give up too soon.
