They all increased their earnings in July
We would all like to earn more money from our writing, but it can be difficult to know what works and what doesn’t. One way to get ahead is to model yourself on other successful writers.
If you’re not doing it already, you should start following the top writers on this platform.
You should also start following other writers that are already at a stage that you want to get to. That includes following new, up-and-coming writers.
Following all the above will give you big clues about what works on this platform.

In this post, I also want to mention three specific writers that are doing particularly well for various reasons. Follow them closely and see what they’re doing.
Robert Ralph
Robert Ralph is the owner of the amazing New Writers Welcome publication. You’ve probably heard of it, as it’s where many new writers start their journey.
Many writers have complained of a summer slump during July. They have reported lower views as well as lower earnings. But Robert still puts in the work and has been rewarded handsomely.
In his latest earnings report, he mentions that his July earnings almost tripled in July from the previous month. He earned an incredible $998.67.

Ella Heart
Ella Heart is another writer that’s decided to ignore the summer slump. Ella earned $40.44 back in February this year. Since then, her earnings have risen for five months in a row.
In July, she earned $252.81. That’s over 6X what she was earning in February. She’s heading in the right direction.
Just like Robert, she’s put in the hard work. She wrote 64 stories in July. She’s a mother of two young kids. English isn’t her first language. Notice anything here? She doesn’t make excuses. She just does the work.
Like Robert, she also runs a publication, Elljoworld, and has her own YouTube channel. She is also an editor for Evolve and Build Your Wealth.
Har Narayan
Har Narayan is an amazing guy. Unlike Robert and Ella, his Medium earnings haven’t increased this month. In fact, he earned $0.
So why am I suggesting you follow a writer with $0 earnings? Well, here’s the thing. Har is from India, so he doesn’t qualify to join the Medium Partner Program. Most writers would give up if they were in that situation. But did Har give up? Hell no.
Har still managed to earn $401 from Medium, even without the MPP.
There is more than one way to make money from writing on Medium. You need to think outside the box.

What do these three writers have in common?
They all have read-made excuses for why they could give up, but they don’t make those excuses. They just play the hand that they were dealt.
They decided to write and that is just what they do. They make writing a priority in their lives.
