Medium Is Going Down The Pan — Writers Are Leaving — That’s Fantastic News
The sooner all the complainers leave, the better for the rest of us
This is only my second month on Medium, but I’m already fed up with the complainers.
The algorithm has changed. So what? Algorithms change all the time. If it didn’t, it would be too easy to game the system.
Oh, but your precious views have dropped. Do you know what that means? It means that maybe the algorithm gave you an unfair advantage in the past. Now it’s been corrected so that others get a fair chance. And what’s your response? That it’s unfair.
I didn’t hear you complaining when you were doing well and others weren’t. You were likely very happy that the algorithm favored you. That’s always the case isn’t it? Many writers on here don’t want a fair algorithm. They want one that favors them personally. And if it doesn’t, they throw their toys out of the pram and have a tantrum.
And what’s the other complaint? Oh yeah, writers are leaving in droves. So? What has that got to do with you? People are leaving every profession. And you know what? New people are joining. Yes, that’s right, Medium has new writers. They sign up every day. Some of them will end up some of the top writers on here. But what do you care? Better to moan about the ones that are leaving.
If you don’t like it here, then what are you still doing here? There are thousands of places you could write. Why stay somewhere that you actively complain about day in and day out.
Nothing lasts forever, so even if Medium is going down the pan, something will come along to replace it.
To succeed in life, we have to be adaptable.
The world is changing at an increasingly rapid rate. You’ll get left behind if all you do is complain about things that change.
I know change can be difficult, but that’s life. We have to get on with it. Not waste our precious time complaining. The world will change whether you want it to or not. You either adapt or die.
So quit complaining. You’ve had your tantrum. Just move on to something else. Then the rest of us that actually like it here can get on with our writing without having to listen to tantrums every day.
For your own sake, move on.
